Creating Natural Facial Results

Question: I want to get injectable fillers for my hollow cheeks and droopy mouth corners but honestly, I am afraid of looking unnatural. There are so many people I see with over-plumped cheeks and enlarged lips. Every plastic surgeon seems to advertise a “natural result”. Are there special techniques you use to keep your patients looking natural?
Answer:Yes, I absolutely use some very specific techniques to create natural results. The use of such techniques is the difference between going to a specialist vs. an amateur. In fact, I was just in Barcelona speaking to other doctors at an aesthetics conference and educating my colleagues on these effective techniques in facial volumization.
Many doctors don’t realize that there are actually 5 to 6 distinct sections of the cheek area itself. Too often, doctors treat all the cheek subunits at once without discrimination. Typically, however, only 1 or 2 of these cheek subunits need to be volumized in patients where the cheeks are hollowing, in order to give a natural result.
Many doctors often overfill the nasolabial smile lines and marionette grooves seen at the mouth corners, giving a heavy lower face. Conservative filling of these lower facial areas combined with adequate volumization of a volume-deficient upper face, which almost always exists, is key to creating a natural look with a proportional facial appearance.
There are many other areas on the face that I treat, using very specific techniques, to avoid an unnatural looking appearance. Careful consultation with a board-certified Facial Plastic Surgeon is the first step in assessing your volume loss and determining whether Bellafill, stem cell fillers or temporary fillers are the most suitable choice for you.
