Dr. Google vs Dr. Mandal

Question: I want Bellafill but I checked the internet and there is a significant variation in prices at different doctor’s offices. How can I know who to select given the different fee structures?
Answer: First, while the internet can be helpful, it can also be very misleading. There are important differences between “Dr. Google” and, for instance, Dr. Mandal. Dr. Google tends to focus on the endpoint, whether that is an end result, product or a bottom-line fee.
There are many more factors that go into a decision on who to chose to perform your Bellafill treatment than what Dr. Google over-simplisticaly presents to you on the internet.
Making a decision to have Bellafill treatments for facial volumization is a more complex process than Dr. Google might lead you to believe. This process includes a thorough assessment of your facial volume loss by a qualified facial plastic surgeon who understands the details of your aging facial anatomy.
Equally important is the injector skill of your facial plastic surgeon. While many plastic surgeons use injectable fillers, Bellafill is specialty filler requiring advanced injector skill and expertise. Given Bellafill’s 5-year duration, unlike temporary fillers which go away in 6 to 12 months, your doctor cannot tell you that your Bellafill will go away if you’re not happy with the results. When dealing with a 5-year filler, it’s often a good idea to seek a doctor who performs a high volume of Bellafill treatments. I perform 500-600 syringes of Bellafill each year.
Additionally, it’s important for you to be comfortable that you share your doctor’s aesthetic vision. If you are wanting to look natural instead of having overly strong cheekbones which have you never have had, then you should make the aesthetic result a priority. Dr. Google is not focused on yours or your doctor’s aesthetic vision, nor on injector skill. Dr. Google shows you a photo on the internet and a price point.
It’s one thing to be a doctors office offering Bellafill treatments. It’s entirely another thing to offer Bellafill with the level of skill and expertise that increases your chances of a long-term successful result.
As a fashion aficionado, I won’t hesitate to buy a Prada handbag on sale, but that’s because authentic Prada handbags in the same model are all the same. Price-shopping for cosmetic procedures, particularly when it comes to your face, can be dangerous and, in the end, a more costly gamble. In reality, there is rarely a successful marriage between the best results and the cheapest fees that Dr. Google may mislead to think.
It’s important for each patient to decide if the aesthetic result and injector skill takes priority over price point. How much value do you place on your face? Who would you prefer to help you decide – Dr. Google or Dr. Mandal? There are certain things you wouldn’t want to price-shop for?
Many thanks to the 83 lovely patients who RSVP’d and attended our Winter Wonderland in Palm Beach event last Thursday to help make it a success. Wishing all my readers Happy Holidays and a very Happy New Year!
