Question: I am looking for a permanent filler for my deep facial lines and hollow cheeks. Are there any permanent options that are actually safe?
Answer: Some permanent injectable fillers are available, many are associated with complications or unsatisfactory results. Bellafill®, however, is an injectable filler with a high safety profile.
Bellafill®, which has been effective in filling facial hollows and deep smile lines, is considered “permanent.” Typically, Bellafill® treatments are performed in several sessions with initial treatments designed to give the bulk of the correction and follow-up treatments for fine tuning of results. The time between treatments can be as much as eight weeks.
While Bellafill® is more costly than shorter lasting, nonpermanent fillers, it is more cost-effective in the long run due to the lack of the need for regular maintenance touch-ups. Allergy testing is typically done before treatment to reduce the risk of any allergic reactions to Bellafill®.
There is no such filler that can effectively address every line, groove of hollow on the face. For instance, while Bellafill® results have been quite impressive in treating hollows in the temple, cheeks, under eyes and smile lines, it is not designed for treatment of think lips or fine lines. Other fillers may be safer and/or give better results depending on the facial area being treated and the patient’s unique needs. A thorough consultation is the first step in tailoring injectable therapy each patient’s unique needs.
