How To Save Money On Injectable Fillers

Posted: 10:19pm Sunday, June 30, 2019

By Anita Mandal, M.D.
Question: I am in my early 70?s and need filler in my cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds, mouth corners and lower lid hollows. I’ve researched the different fillers. It seems that Restylane, Juvederm and Sculptra have to be redone regularly to keep up with the results. I know I need a lot of syringes due to my age and the many areas to be treated. I really don’t mind spending the extra money on filler, but can you recommend one that is more cost-effective?

Answer: Most of the facial areas that you describe typically require a volumization filler. Common volume restoration fillers on the market include Juvéderm Voluma, Restylane Lyft, Sculptra and Bellafill. All of these fillers with the exception of Bellafill – The 5 Year Filler, last 1-2 years. But even in cases of temporary fillers that last 2 years, maintenance treatments are often needed to achieve that 2-year duration. Studies show that many patients experience “filler fatigue” after about 2 maintenance treatments and do not return at regular intervals to maintain their a filler results, especially when many syringes of filler are needed.

Because Bellafill combines its unique 5-year duration with a high safety profile and effective volumization results, patients can save a considerable amount of money with Bellafill. While Bellafill may, on average, cost 30 to 40 percent more than temporary one year fillers, over the long run, Bellafill costs dramatically less compared to temporary fillers. For example, a patient who spends $5,000 on Bellafill for a 5-year result could easily spend $20,000 if they used a temporary 1-year filler to treat the same areas over that same 5-year period.

If you are experiencing filler fatigue or prefer to spend your money in a more practical manner when it comes to injectable fillers, Bellafill may be a good facial rejuvenation option for you.
Another advantage of Bellafill is that it can be used in a wide range of facial areas unlike many temporary fillers which have more restrictive applications. Bellafill is commonly used to soften deep nasolabial smile lines, downturned mouth corners, deep chin creases as well as volumize the cheeks, temples and lower lid hollows.

A detailed facial rejuvenation consultation with a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon is the first step in assessing your injectable filler and volumization needs. An expert injector who understands the deep facial anatomy of aging can improve your chances of a satisfying and natural looking result.
