Question: I’m 78 and have hollows under my eyes and in my cheeks. I also have deep smile lines as well as puppet lines near my mouth corners. I need fillers and am most interested in Bellafill since it lasts 5 years. Which areas on my face can be improved with Bellafill?
Answer: In addition to Bellafill’s 5-year duration, an important benefit is that it can be used in many different facial areas. With temporary fillers, you may need one type of Juvederm for eyelid hollows and a completely different type of Juvederm for sunken cheeks. In contrast, Bellafill can be used for most, if not all, of the areas you have concerns about.
My filler of choice for hollowing in the cheeks is Bellafill. One can use Sculptra, Restylane Defyne or Refyne, Juvederm, Sculptra, Voluma or Radiesse but these are temporary fillers which require frequent and very costly maintenance. Bellafill is not only the most natural looking but also the most cost-effective over a 5-year period.
When it comes to the hollows under the eyes, I have found Bellafill to be most effective. While Restylane also works, when it comes to the outer part of the hollow, Restylane tends to cause lumpiness. Bellafill, in my hands, has been used very successfully along the entire eyelid hollow with minimal incidence of lumpiness.
Another popular treatment area with Bellafill is the nasolabial smile lines. In fact, it’s the nasolabial folds that were actually treated with Bellafill in the FDA trial which studied over 1000 patients to prove Bellafill’s 5-year duration and high safety profile. The marionette lines and “puppet” lines also respond well to Bellafill as do droopy mouth corners.
In addition to these areas, I also use Bellafill extensively in my practice to improve hollow temples, loss of forehead volume, deep frown lines between the brows, depressed scars, aging hands and to soften both a witches’ chin and well as a receding chin.
Which fillers are most suitable for your unique aging concerns is best addressed through consultation with a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon who not only understands the complex facial anatomy but also has extensive experience with and knowledge of the many different types of fillers and their varied uses in facial rejuvenation.
