Question: I had a great result on my face and neck from Ultherapy™. It tightened and lifted my sagging jowls, cheeks, eyebrows and neck. I want to stay on a maintenance plan. How soon can I have another Ulthera treatment?
Answer: Ultherapy™ is designed as a one time treatment with the results expected to last – on average – at least two years.
This is not to say that Ultherapy™ cannot be repeated to the same area again. It is not, however, designed as a series of treatments unlike the radio frequency lasers, because Ultherapy™ penetrates deep enough typically with a single session. Also, the collagen stimulation from a single treatment can continue for up to 9 months after a single treatment.
In patients with effective results, It is not recommended to have Ulthera sooner than 9 to 12 months to the same area. Doing so can result in deeper penetration into the fatty facial tissues resulting in hollowing from loss of fat.
Additionally, each person ages differently between their face and neck. Some may hold up well in the face at one year yet show some sagging in the neck. Ulthera can be tailored to treat the sagging areas during maintenance treatments. Alternatively, if one has aged more uniformly between the face and neck, an additional full face treatment can be done at 9 to 12 months.
Careful consultation with your Facial Plastic Surgeon to tailor an Ulthera maintenance plan for your individual needs is the first step.
