Why Have I Not Heard Of Bellafill®?

Question: A plastic surgeon recommended Bellafill® as I wanted a filler that is long lasting with fewer maintenance treatments. I am a bit leery since he was the only doctor in the area doing Bellafill®? If Bellafill® is such a great product, why don’t you hear about it as much as Botox?
Answer: Bellafill® is a specialty product that is not available on as widespread of a basis as Botox or Restylane which are sold on bill boards and in fashion magazines. Compared to Restylane and Juvederm, Bellafill® treatments are not intended to be offered by every “cosmetic” surgeon or medi-spa in town as they require higher technical expertise and greater artistic skill. Because Bellafill® can last 5 years or more, it should only be used in highly trained hands of a specialist who understands the intricate anatomy and aesthetic balance of the face.
Bellafill® treatments are most suitable for the “seasoned” cosmetic patient who often has previously had temporary fillers such as Collagen, Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm and Sculptra. And, while these clients like the look of temporary fillers, they have come to appreciate how expensive maintenance treatments using temporary injections can be over time. Such patients are willing to make a larger upfront financial investment for an Bellafill® treatment because they know the value of full correction which, unlike temporary fillers, can be effectively achieved with Bellafill®.
Even when a temporary filler is expected, for example, to last one year, what this means is that 50 percent of the filler may be gone in six months. In comparison, the full correction that Bellafill® can give may remain unchanged for at least 5 years or more.
Careful consultation with a Facial Plastic Surgeon who is an Bellafill® specialist should be the first step in assessing your Bellafill® needs.
